 With the Bezalel School of Art leading the painters from the art exhibition, Jewish-centric Israel art participants strove to propagate the Zionist movement’s growing influence on the Israel art world by preserving the Jewish history and using it as a foundation for establishing the State of Israel as a Jewish holy land.  Some of the rebellious members of the Israel art world instead felt that Israel should be considered its own unique ‘Hebrew’ (as opposed to ‘Jewish’) nation, and rejected the Bezalel artists’ efforts in favor of ancient myths and pagan culture tied to the land.
